Twitter SEO

I often show examples of how to use twitter and youTube as part of your social media marketing strategies.
At a recent seminar in Wichita Kansas I used twitter to promote the seminar, show the audience how I can use Twitter to promote a video of the seminar I created (while at the seminar),
What I noticed today was that my twitter account was ranked #1 on Google for the terms “search engine marketing seminar wichita“.
Yes, I realize that its a long (long) tail keyword, however, its the first instance I have seen of my personal twitter account ranking for a term so high.
My quick video I did that is a whole 12 seconds long ranks #2.
In all the searches I have done for anything, I have never seen someones personal twitter account rank #1, or top 10 for that matter.
It’s interesting where things are going and how my “entire” twitter account can rank for a term.
A quick update, within 3 minutes this post itself ranks organically at #4

That’s fascinating. I haven’t seen a Twitter account rank like that in the normal organic results. I wonder how Google decides upon the authority of the Twitter account? Does the number or relevancy of Twitter followers have some bearing on the ranking? For instance, if you had tweeted about “siding and window seminars wichita” would the results have been the same – given that your followers and previous tweets have nothing to do with siding and windows? It would seem that the authority of the Tweeter has to be considered.

Mike,
So far in all the queries I have done on any given day, I have yet to see a “twitter account” rank so high. That being said, I know I have built up a lot of equity online for local search. if you search “local search help” on BING, my blog is #1, #2 is local.google.com and #3 is local.yahoo.com and I’m 8th on Google for the same query. Perhaps my online equity for local search and lack of competition in Wichita pushed me to the top.
For “local business center help” on Google, I am #6, 1-5 are links to google.com & youtube

One more query. For “search engine marketing seminar tulsa” on Google my Twitter account is now #8 and my Video I did at the airport on the way to Tulsa is now #6. My guess is that if I reference the terms search engine marketing seminar tulsa again like this that perhaps this blog post will rank high as well.
